Lake Dillon is a high alpine lake (9,017') nestled between Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, and Siverthorn in Summit County, Colorado just sixty-eight miles west of downtown Denver along US Interstate I-70. Lake Dillon consists of multiple fingers totalling 3,233 acres of water ideal for rowing.
Summit County enjoys a high desert climate perfect for summer sporting activities (as well as winter skiing) - "I came for the winters but stayed for the summers" is the locals' refrain.
Summit County has 247 sunny days a year with average summer highs of 60-70 degrees and nighttime lows of 50.
Lake Dillon is usually calm through 10:00 or 11:00 am with Westerly winds mid-day and then calm water again before sunset. The rowing season usually starts mid-May and extends through late fall.
